Jane's Newsletter

January 2024 | No. 4

Happy New Year, folks!

You may notice that I’m sending you this newsletter from a different delivery system than usual. I’m transitioning away from Substack, and am experimenting with this new delivery app, Beehiiv. Don’t worry, you don’t need to download anything or resubscribe. You’re all set 🙂

I’m in my apartment with a cup of tea (Traditional Medicinals Throat Coat to be exact), and I have no idea what to include in this newsletter or how to start it.

In fact, I kind of dreaded writing this one… I’m not sure why. I’m an introvert, so writing words for other people’s eyes has made me feel a little… Silly? Uncomfy? Eek!

Oh well. I choose to carry on.

The Artist’s Mindful Tool Kit

When your schedule is hectic and your stress is up to your neck… fall back on your healthy habits.

When I’m in a long-term rehearsal process, I often abandon my usual routine. My foundation slips away from under me. Maybe this happens to you too.

I expressed in previous newsletters that I want to learn how to protect at least 10% of my well being and foundation during a show. With that said, I started making my bed every morning.

I liked the way this new habit felt. So, I made another one, which is to run (or at least move) every single day. Even if it means I have to sacrifice an hour of my schedule, I am learning to prioritize and commit to my habits. By making my bed every morning, I ensure that I keep my promise to myself and my foundation.

Why is this mindful? Because if we have the capacity to choose how we want to spend a block of our time (making the bed, cleaning, or running), then we may feel way more grounded and capable as we navigate hectic artistic projects.

ASMR Study Hall

ASMR Study Hall officially has an Instagram! I’ll be posting on there to share art I’m working on, preview upcoming ambiences, and connect with my listeners.

Speaking of art, here are some recent scenes I’ve drawn for the channel. Learning how to draw on my Ipad has been very fun and calming.

Finally, here are some of my favorite ASMR Ambience videos from the past few weeks:

See You Next Time!

Wrapping up this newsletter now. It’s shorter than usual, but again, I felt a little off going into this one. Thank you for understanding! Keep shining and stay wonderful, friends.
